What if humans go extinct?

Humans are the only known beings capable of abstract knowledge and creativity along with the capacity of great reasoning and logical capacities. Many animals are known to socialize, but humans control the planet because of their communication skills which helps them in cooperating with each other.Such a species really stands out and should be considered a crown jewel of the planet, which helps in the development of other species and the planet as a whole, but sadly,it is not so.Humans are acting mindlessly, draining the already scarce resources of the planet, worsened by the ever-increasing population, just like a parasite which destroys the very organism it is feeding on.The Covid-19 pandemic has shown yet another example that the earth would be much better off without humans.

During the early stages of the pandemic, when the country was under complete lockdown, the air and water pollution levels went down tremendously.Only a few months of reduced human activity resulted in such a drastic change in the environmental conditions that it makes us think that what if human beings did not exist at all?Or what would happen after our extinction?

We all know that if humans would not have existed at all,the environmental conditions would have been much better and the overall survival of the planetary species would have lasted millions of years longer. The real story is about what would happen after human extinction.

Though it is not likely that our species is gonna vanish anytime soon, but let us assume for reference that humans get extinct after a few hundred years.By the time that happen most of the species would likely have gotten extinct, the planets resources drained and the ecosystem completely disrupted. It is likely that the planet would take some time before it completely heals itself. All the domesticated breeds of animals would become prey to larger predators and the remaining won`t be able to survive without human support. The generators would shut down and this might result in explosions due to the remaining nuclear fuels or explosives, but it is unlikely as most resources would have already been used. Without the regular maintenance, the buildings and other structures would collapse in a few hundred years, while tiny animals like insects, snakes or rats would make these ruins their dwellings.Soil, exploited for centuries for agriculture and now left barren, would slowly rejuvenate and recover the lost nutrients.Wild plants would cover the ruined cities. The deserts, forests, and swamps which were earlier transformed into human civilizations would slowly reappear.Animal species would thrive, due to unhindered space and readily available food.Slowly all traces of human civilization would disappear with the exception of stone structures, which can last several thousands of years, the last remnants of a once great civilization.
